Sitting on her hands, lying awake at night

Sandie's a B2B copywriter in Copenhagen. She makes boring B2B companies sound human.

But her leads were all over the place. It was feast or famine, and she was sitting on her hands hoping people would find her through her content.

For about 2 months she lay awake for 3 hours every night, worrying about money. She dreaded holidays because time off meant no income.

The stress made her ill for 2 months, with a 3-year-old at home.

She'd pulled what she calls "a serious ostrich" on her finances, so she had no idea how the business was really doing.

I told myself that I enjoyed being my own boss... but if I had to be completely honest, it was not pretty

02 · The decision

She stopped waiting to be found

Sandie came to one of our workshops + got the Deadly DM Bank.

The idea was simple: stop waiting for leads + start conversations. She already had a big network + a name as a Danish copywriter. She just wasn't using it.

Then she got on a call with Chris. She'd never bought anything on a call before, because she's a thinker. But she got her card out there + then.

Her only worry was earning it back, so she gave herself 3 months to do it.

Take my money, please. I've never done that before

03 · The process

She found the bit in the middle

Sandie thought there were only 2 ways to get clients: wait for them to come to you, or cold call. And she'd rather die than cold call.

Inside C2C, she found the space in between. Real conversations with people she finds interesting, run as a system.

She narrowed her copywriting down to a couple of core services, so people finally understand what she does. And she stopped spending 2 days on a Canva carousel when she could be talking to people.

Now her outreach is booked into her calendar as a non-negotiable. 90% of days, it happens.

I could actually take control of my pipeline... and not just sit on my f*cking hands like a diva

05 · Pricing

Who is she to charge that?

In Denmark there's an unwritten rule called Janteloven. Don't think you're special, and don't act like you're better than anyone.

Sandie grew up with it. She saw other copywriters struggling + figured she had to struggle too. She charged by the hour, and didn't think she could ask for big money without 10 years in one industry.

Every time she shared her prices in the C2C community, someone told her to bump them up. So she did.

Now she prices on value. When she runs out of hours, she raises her prices.

I wouldn't be able to charge the kind of money today that I do without the team and the community

Lifestyle first

Mornings are for her son

Sandie went self-employed to get her time back. Now she's actually got it.

There are no meetings before midday, so mornings are slow + spent with her son. Mondays are for her content + CrossFit, not clients.

She can tell her partner they're going on holiday. And they're looking at a house near her family, after years in a 53m² flat with a toddler.

For the first time in 3 years, she isn't buzzing with stress.

I almost feel like a proper grown-up. Almost

What's next

Next, she's teaching it

She's planning copywriting workshops for marketing teams + her own in-person workshop in Denmark.

And she's building an email course + starting on YouTube, so more of the work comes to her.
